Do you provide menu tastings?
Tastings are provided once you have spoken with our team and have received a detailed proposal with agreed upon pricing. Tastings are complimentary for all of our wedding couples who have signed a contract and placed a deposit prior to the scheduled date of their tasting. If there is not a signed contract and deposit prior to the date of your wedding tasting, there is a cost of $60 per couple ($30/person) to attend your menu tasting. All tastings are conducted in a one-on-one setting with a Tall Guy team member and include a tasting of the menu items on your proposal which may include appetizers, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. We also discuss all event logistics specific to your individual event. If you decide to book your event with us, these funds will be directly credited on your invoice. For any other type of full service party, we are happy to offer tastings for any events with guest counts exceeding 100 people. Contact us today to begin planning your event with us!
How much is this all going to cost me?
For Wedding and Special Event staffed catering, prices vary greatly depending on menu, location, and service style. For 2020, our average price for a buffet is $71/person, family style service averages $82/person, plated dinner service averages $68/person, and dinner stations average $88/person.
That sounds like a lot of money. Why does catering cost this much?
There is a lot of planning that goes into each and every event that we cater. Your price covers the cost of sourcing food from our local farms and purveyors, safe preparation and delivery of the food to your location, and availability to reach us via email or phone at any time to ask questions about your event. To perform these services we need computers, office supplies, kitchen equipment, delivery vehicles, and a facility to store all of these things. Pulling off a well executed event takes a lot of resources, and we are happy that you are considering us for your special occasion!
What’s included in that menu pricing? How do I go about building a menu?
The average menu for 2020 consists (on average) of appetizers (1 to 3 passed appetizers, an appetizer station, or a combination of these two), a green salad, 2 protein options, 1 to 2 potato or pasta sides, 1 to 2 vegetable side, all serving and display pieces needed based on your menu selections, china rentals, linens, dessert service, coffee service, staffing, gratuity, and sales tax. This pricing also includes appropriate set-up, break-down, cleaning, and room flip services based on the venue, timing, and service style for your unique event.
