09 Sep Packer Party Tailgate: Bourbon BBQ Beer Can Chicken
If you’re looking for a winning game day feast this Packer season, I recommend treating your party guests to a juicy, easy-to-make BBQ Bourbon Beer Can Chicken for your main course. This recipe takes no more than an hour and a half to prepare and there are numerous ways to serve-up this unbeatable dish. See our BBQ catering menu!
Seasoned salt from Penzey’s
Salt & pepper
Choice of dried oregano or rosemary
The prep will be no more than ten minutes, all of which can be completed while your oven is preheating to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel.
Make sure the cavity of the chicken is open and clean. This is where your beer can will be placed.
Mix your seasonings in a bowl.
Brush olive oil onto the chicken and then rub on your seasonings.
Open your Yankee Buzzard and drink 1/3 of the can; center the can on your baking dish.
Carefully insert the can into the cavity of the seasoned chicken and set the legs of the bird up like a tripod so the bird is standing up.
Cook for an hour and twenty minutes.
Once the skin of the chicken has caramelized, brush on the BBQ Sauce and then place it back into the oven for 10-15 minutes (you can also pour another can of Yankee Buzzard atop your bird to add more flavor). When your chicken is ready to serve, carve it up to create a bunch of different dishes. Mrs. TG and I like using fresh ingredients like blue cheese, greens, avocado, tomatoes, and Angelic Bakehouse wraps.
