American Cheese Month with Favorite Cheesy Recipes

Cheese and Bread

Cheese.  It’s probably – no, it is – my favorite ingredient to work with.  In fact, if I listed off all of the Tall Guy menu items that involve cheese, this blog would be endless.  So, I’ll keep it to my top 5 favorite cheesy dishes, starting with a our irresistible veggie lasagna.

1. Veggie Lasagna

The weather is perfect for this creamy, cheesy entrée.  Layered with broccoli, shredded carrots, red bell pepper, and a cheesy blend of BelGioioso mozzarella, Ricotta, and Tall Guy’s made from scratch Parmesan sauce, this entrée pleases absolutely everyone at the dinner table.

We can prepare a full-pan / half-pan size for pick-up and provide simple heating instructions so you can serve whenever you please.

2.  Grilled Burger with Clock Shadow Creamery Quark Cheese

This popular European cheese is made locally at Clock Shadow Creamery and might be one of my favorites! Any of their amazing flavors like tomato basil or garlic dill quark pair perfectly with a #grassfedbeef Kettle Range burger.Grilled Burger with Clock Shadow Creamery Quark CheeseYou can also visit the Clock Shadow Creamery website to check out seasonal quark, like pumpkin harvest and cranberry holiday.  Make sure to place your order quickly as it is guaranteed to run out!

3. Gnocchi Mac & Cheese

Inspired by one of our wedding clients, Gnocchi with a Wisconsin cheddar and smoked Gouda cheese sauce is one of our most popular dishes. I personally crave it this time of year as it makes for the best comfort food and an excellent holiday dish to pass.

4.  Cream Cheese Stuffed Dates with Bacon (‘aka’ Rumaki)

We serve this passed appetizer at almost every wedding and employee party we cater for because no one can resist this mouth-watering combination of cream cheese, dates, and Nueske’s bacon. If you’re hosting a corporate or private holiday party in the upcoming months, make sure this passed appetizer is at your party!

Additional cheesy passed appetizers that are light, easy to eat, and party-pleasing are the Antipasto and Caprese skewers, featuring BelGioioso mozzarella cheese, or a farm stand station with an assortment of locally-sourced cheeses, sausages, housemade pickles, and Potter’s Crackers. Check out the Tall Guy website to schedule a pick-up, delivery, or on site catering.

5. Aggie’s Bakery Banana Split Cheesecake

It’s not a Tall Guy recipe, but this masterpiece is one of the many delicious desserts you can find at one of our favorite local bakeries.  This past year, the Banana Split Cheesecake was a popular treat at the Wisconsin State Fair. It’s one of the most decadent desserts to come out of Aggie’s Bakery since they opened in 1977.
