I’m always looking for something of substance on the app table when I hit the holiday party circuit, which is why I’m sharing my Caramelized Onion and BBQ Sliders recipe. I hope you enjoy these delicious apps from Christmas to the New Year!
You really can’t go wrong with this easy recipe – there’s no flipping burgers either, as these sliders are baked on a cookie sheet!
You can go for many flavor profiles by combining different cheeses, caramelized vegetables and condiments, but this one really hit the spot with creamy Sartori Montamore cheese, onions, Tall Guy Bourbon BBQ sauce and a cornichon to top it off.
You know how much I love my Pretzilla buns, too. And guess what? They make slider size. So perfect.
- 3 lb. grass-fed ground beef
- 2 tbs. of your favorite seasoning blend
- 2 sweet onions
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 wedge Sartori Montamore cheese
- Tall Guy Bourbon BBQ Sauce
- Cornichons (yeah…that’s fancy speak for little pickles!)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add the seasoning blend to your ground beef with some salt and pepper, and mash it up with your hands.
Spread the ground beef mixture into the bottom of an 11″ x 17″ cookie sheet and bake for about 30 minutes.
In a frying pan, melt 2 tbs. butter over medium heat. Slice the sweet onions and cook them until caramelized, about 7-8 minutes. Set aside.
When the slider pan comes out of the oven, drain the excess liquid off and cut into 24 square patties.
Place one burger patty on the bottom of a pretzel bun and top with a slice of cheese, about a tbsp. of caramelized onion and about a tbsp. of bbq sauce. Put the top of the bun on, grab a pickle, and spear that baby. Wait for the applause from your guests, and enjoy one of these before they disappear!
We hope you enjoy these Caramelized Onion and BBQ Sliders!
